Wonderful Sunday

Nathaniel had his first trip to church today. There everyone ooh'ed and awe'd over him. After church we headed to Grandpa & Grandma Sullivan's for a yummy lunch. Cade sat for a long time in his chair feeding himself. He's getting the hang of things and growing up. Cade kept Aunt Kristi in the play room the entire time we were there. I believe I even heard him say her name today.
Afterwards we headed to Aunt Mary's for a visit. (once our Internet gets up and running I'll have a few photos to show from there) The kids looooooove both of mine and that makes me grin ear to ear.

Two Weeks Old

After much deliberation, our blog will be changing.

When I started CadesCove, I assumed he was all we were to be blessed with. Of course we know since then, we've received an additional blessing. So for now I will attempt to post on both, but soon we'll be down to just on site once everyone has acclimated. Soon or now you'll need to go to:

I didn't realize it had been since late Monday since I posted.
Sorry Cade and Nathaniel fans for my delay, I didn't mean to keep you waiting.

Nathaniel Lee is two weeks old,
Cade Joseph is two years and two weeks old
Everything is TWO wonderful

We've been back to the physician's office for a weight check and Nathaniel was up two ounces. Which is fabulous! Newborns are suppose to gain half an ounce to a whole ounce daily. So that made it two ounces in two days. We return for his normal two week check up on Tuesday afternoon. I am certain he has gained plenty more. Its funny to look at him and see that he's filled out more. It won't be long he'll be as big as Cade.

This week has been a wonderful week. Daddy will be returning to work on Tuesday and Mommy will soon thereafter. We've spent every waking (even some non-waking) moment getting a full supply of hugs and kisses from our boys.

Couple of Days

Today we made a quick stop at the doctor for his weight check and although he had not gained any weight, he had not lost. So we are suppose to stop by one more time this week just for peace of mind. Everything else checks out well and we are loving life. I also took Nathaniel on his first outing...John & Melissa's baby shower. BUT I am quite the slacker and took no photos of his Auntie Mary, Jennifer & Pam holding him. In my defense I was busy as I had grabbed Aunt Tracy's camera to get pictures of the shower for her.

Cade loves Nathaniel more and more each day. Here is "showing" him how to play with his mat.

Sunday Grandpa took Cade outside to play since it was finally NOT raining.

One Week Check Up

Today we visited the pediatrician. Everything seems well, of course. Nathaniel didn't put on any weight, so we go back Monday just to have that checked. (Its Monday because return visits are two weeks after birth and he'll be off for the holiday) Everything else we thought we had concerns over were perfectly fine.

We just love this little fellow and don't know how we got so blessed with two wonderful boys.

My opinion changed daily whether I was excited having a schedule or if surprise labor was actually better. Since day one I had plans and goals on getting certain things accomplished. Even down to that last week I needed to have bags packed, rooms ready, house cleaned, laundry done, the list goes on and on. I in theory could check everything off the list but only percentage of each was completed. Laundry: 85% complete, bags: not everything got packed, rooms: livable, clean house: lets not go there. When it came to Thursday and Friday, I didn't magically get energy to accomplish last minute goals, but received last minute peace to not care.
Saturday we arrived two hours prior to surgery to do pre-op hub bub. I am assuming since it was Saturday everyone was there are ready to roll quickly so they could get on with their weekend. The sleep crew were super nice and very comforting, they helped put my (normal) anxiousness at ease. I was a little jumpy at first, to which I have no problems admitting. I am very ticklish & very jumpy...being nervous makes it worse. The doctors and nurses assured me I was alright. Once the doctor began a few simple adjustments needed to be made for me and my anesthesia and then a few more for me and my nausea. Very shortly into the procedure the tone in the air changed. The doctor had cut an unseen vein running across my uterus. (He later said it was like turning on a faucet, wide open.) We heard him ask for another doctor and blood-and to be sure it was warm before it got there. I tried to ask what was going on, but the subject was changed and I knew it was for the best.



The doctors, nurses and sleepy crew did what they were trained to do and at 8:48 Nathaniel came out crying. Proud Daddy got to go right over and do as I instructed, "Take lots of pictures." Shortly after they came over to give me kisses. Did it matter what was going on behind that sheet? Nope. There was a precious gift next to me.
The family waited knew something was going on back in surgery. Plenty of nurses kept running through, but tried to reassure everyone that things were alight. We later found out about the vein the doctor cut, my "pain" was not in my head, the cord was around Nathaniel's neck, his heart rate was elevated and that he would have jaundice. Our family has been truly blessed this week. With Guiding Hands my surgeons and nurses were able to attend to my needs; our baby boy is absolutely perfect, no problems with jaundice; & all of our needs are met.

We are healthy and happy beyond any measures.

Nathaniel was greeted with love from tons of family.

Of course the nurse came to get him in between to clean him and evaluate him...

Once the nurse returned with Nathaniel she exclaimed she had found something.
She picked him up, turned him over to show us two white spots of hair on his head.
Our boys are truly special, but I didn't need anyone tell me that.
