One Month Countdown

Ah, yes, we have all seen this picture and laughed.
This photo inspired a whole post.

So I guess there is an old wives tale that refers
to not cutting a baby's hair until
after his/her's first birthday.
Nanny & Pa seem to be set in said tale.
Not cutting Daddy's curls as a baby for a long time.

I did some research and couldn't find a single reason, silly or not, for this "rule." Internet question"ers" asked similar questions. Most responders said their babies simply didn't have the hair to cut before baby's first birthday. They apparently aren't raising a hippie, like me. ----------------------------->
So in an effort not to cause any sort of bad luck to my baby's tresses, we've been living with "bad" hair. Don't get me wrong, when his hair is laying down...adorable! But with a few snuggles here and a couple of minutes of play time...watch out. Its over his ears, down his neck, you never know what its going to be doing. Don't even get me started on his cowlick. One month to get his bangs out of his eyes and what can be made into a pony tail off his neck. Below are a few photos that may shed some insight to coiffure.

Yes, this is real. This is what we have to work with before meeting the public.

How sweet? BUT notice the hair going INTO his ears.

That must be an angel wing over his ear.

Whatchu lookin' at?

At least for the next month he can let the wind blow through his hair:

Official Big Boy Bath

Last night was Cade's official big boy bath. I was able to convince him to get into the big bath with out the giant rubber duck. (Although it was sitting on the commode for reinforcements.) He cried a little at first, but soon found out how much easier it was to play with his toys. I knew once he realized he echoed he would love it. Joe and Cade always make as much noise as possible walking up and down the stairs so he can hear his echo. After a few quacks from the giant duckie, he was hollering like he never had a problem. He was having such a great time I had to refill the tub. That in itself was a test, Cade doesn't like loud noises and always cried if we tried to shower him with Daddy. By the time he had turned into a prune, my back and I were ready for him to be finished. Cade thought otherwise. I had to get Daddy's help otherwise I would have wound up in the tub myself.

I have mentioned in a few posts Cade has gotten a lot of teeth. They very prominent now and I wanted to get a photo showing off his toothy new grin. Unfortunately Cade thought it would be funny to "talk" instead of smile. I guess I should have grabbed the video camera instead of the point and shoot. The photo below is one of twenty five and it was the best I had with his pearly whites shining. I'm sure there will plenty more to come.

Welcome Spring!

What a week!?! Although that may insinuate that something spectacular, something impressive, some major milestone occurred, it didn't. Cade is still wonderful he had a little cold this week, but he is still just happy go lucky.
London came by for a quick visit last Friday. Her mommy and daddy bought a new car and then they were off to vacation from here to Florida, up to Tennessee and back! We can't wait till they move closer, hopefully that's soon.

We also got to go outside...two times! Earlier in the week as I was leaving Grandpa and Grandma's I took a chance and sat Cade down in the grass...he cried. I can't verify if he cried because of the grass or because of the noise. He gets somewhat distracted and doesn't care for traffic noise. The next day at dinner at Nanny and Pa's, Mykenzie stopped my on her scooter, so we ventured out again. Daddy sat him in the grass, not a great response, Daddy stood him in the grass and he stood there. He loved watching the train go by and Mykenzie scooting around in the street.
Friday evening the three of us went for a walk. It was so pleasant outside. We had only really planned to go a little further than the end of the block...But we ended up at Grandpa and Grandma's house. We stayed for a couple of minutes and headed back. (We cut through Fatima's parking lot on the way back. It made Green Oak a little less horrible.)
It is so nice doing new things with Cade. I loved watching the wind blow around his hair. As we walked he just drew in everything. His head and eyes jumping back and forth at everything. It was a nice evening. I can say all three of us enjoyed ourselves.

AND
Cade got an AUNT KRISTI

don't tell them I stole this picture

47 Weeks Old

We have had a somewhat monotone few weeks. Not much has really occurred. Cade is absolutely hilarious. He continues to venture off through the house to find new boundaries. He usually starts down the hallway and stops...waits...we give a little yell, he will then either smile, chuckle and take off, or smile, chuckle and stay there. Cade can stand on his own even dance a little, he looks like he wants to take that first step. I can see it in his eyes, but not yet. I know he'll do it when he is ready... although ready is coming SOON.
Last week Nanny & Pa bought him so new shoes (for his birthday, early). Grandma Sullivan went with us. She tried to get him to walk, but he was too busy dancing and staring in the mirror.
Here are a few pictures from the last week or so (hopefully our technical issues will subside soon)

Experiencing Technical Difficulties

So our internet has decided to take vacation. Hopefully it returns Monday. Until then I happen to have a photo on my phone from our shoot last weekend. Please allow for some of my artistic liberties.

Teething

Who knew teething came in fives and sixes? Over the past two weeks Cade has been given the lovely gift of about five or six new teeth. We just simply can't keep up with them, and I'm not sticking my finger in there to check! OK, I did, but I can't tell for sure. He has been a very aggressive biter in the last few days. He gets a certain "hunger" in his eyes, desperately searching for him to chew. It could be my phone, the propeller on his Mickey plane, the laptop, one's hand, a glass any and every toy. Before supper Daddy decided to look through the freezer for some teething relief. Flav-or-Ice popsicles, sounded like a decent idea. MMMMM, chew chew chew, bite bite bite...looked like it was working. Cade inspected it a little more, back into the mouth *BITE* sour face. His two tiny teeth he has had for months went through the plastic!
Yesterday Cade was a giant grump. He sounded like he woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I fed him breakfast and promptly made him take a nap. Later we went on to enjoy a hot dog lunch at the church and off to Sarah's for photos. He was still a little grumpy, but we managed to take a few cute ten month photos:

We also did find out Daddy has surgery on 3/31 to have his gall bladder removed.
Two weeks of NO lifting!
Cade will definitely be upset and so will Daddy.
We'll make it through!

Round up update

I know I didn't do a round up yesterday. I thought about, but was very busy all day long.
Plus we are having some technical difficulties. To keep you satisfied till then...
