Grandpa Neely's Motorcycle

(Quick note: I am working on quite a few projects and may post more than once in a day.
So be sure to check below for more posts)

Grandpa Neely hasn't quite finished the motorcycle, but here is a sneak peek. He decided Uncle Ivan sprayed a better finish than he... So while we were taking Christmas/8 month photos I had him bring it in before he put on the finish. We took a few photos so Grandpa Neely could start showing off his work and his great grand baby.

The Process:

So here are a few pictures from this week already.
I am cracking up at Cade all the time, he is SO funny.
(Just a quick note as well. I have been working on a few slideshows and such,
so make sure I haven't posted more than once in a day!)

He cracks himself up!

Grandpa's Birthday

Tonight we headed to the Sullivans' for Grandpa's birthday. It was so nice for everyone to be there. We had some delicious pizza breads and a few gifts. Daddy decided it Cade needed some red velvet cake to celebrate Grandpa's birthday. As far as we could tell he liked it, but just a little bit ago I had to clean up pink puke (he had too much formula). I'm still very, very hesitant about giving him "grown up" food, this didn't help matters. Neither did the smashed bananas he choked on that I gave him earlier.
Cade is get a little more personality everyday. He makes some of the funniest faces sometimes. He also pops his mouth, Grandma says he's blowing kisses-so we'll go with that. We are ready as we'll ever be for Christmas. I found a little Mickey Mouse riding airplane for Cade. It's a little old for him, but I knew he had to have it- him loving Mickey is an understatement. I had all the gifts out last night to wrap and decided that one wouldn't get wrapped because of the odd size. Cade couldn't keep his eyes off of it, of course it didn't help that I kept accidently pressing all the buttons while I was getting it out of the box. Well we finally let him play with it a little and he LOVED it, he cried when we took him off. We can't wait for Christmas. Tomorrow we will be spending it with Joe's family and then Christmas breakfast (and lunch) at the Sullivans.

I think I'll help.

MMMMM tasty

Thursday Round Up

This has been a full week. We haven't stopped since last Saturday- I don't think. We visited with most of Joe's family that morning then headed to the church Christmas party. Of course Sunday was church and visiting Grandpa & Grandma. Monday was full of laundry and dishes. Tuesday-busy. Starting Wednesday Blake (Beth's youngest) was coming over for babysitting. We played and played and played. Same today, except we went to the mall. WOW the mall with Cade and Blake-also Hillary was there with London. I still have one more day with Blake, fortunately he's easy going. Cade has almost mastered crawling, but still finds it easier to be carried. This morning Cade was in his crib while I was in his closet. It still takes my breath away when I turn around and he's standing there watching me.
Below are a few pics from the week:

I'm not ready!

Cade's first real booboo. He was on the hardwood and was getting from his butt to his knees. The floor was too slick and he couldn't control his upper half. So the door frame stopped his face.

Thursday Round Up on Friday

For some reason or other I got it into my head I could do a "weekly round up" of whatever has occured in the week. I'm only on my second one and I'm behind. Hopefully I'll be able to be faithful. Since my last round up we went to Tennessee which was fabulous. We returned on Monday and I don't feel like we have sat down since. It has been WINDY here and we-strike that- I decided to still go out in it. I must have been crazy, although I did giggle a little when I heard the wind take away Cade's breath. He thought it was funny too. Yesterday I went to help mother wrap presents for a game that we'll play at the church Christmas party... I didn't help much since Cade, who can't crawl, is still very mobile. He of course tried to eat all the paper his little hands could get.
Cade is a woller monster and can get plenty of places by wiggling. He had begun to pull up a little on a few of his toys, but I was dumb founded when I actually saw him on his knees in his crib. I'm so not ready for this. He loves to chew on his shoe strings and just about anything else he can grab.
Below I tweaked a few photos to post just as a wrap up. They're my favorites. Although I should have posted the Santa photo in which Cade is about to cry. He wasn't scared of him, he woke up in a funny mood. We drove around trying to let him get in enough of a nap. He was being a little "whiny" when we went in, at least he didn't really cry. Santa had been on break, when he returned he went straight for Cade. Santa loved him. Too bad Cade wasn't in the mood for anyone but Daddy. It could have been worse the people before us had been waiting for forty-five minutes and their little girl would have no part of Santa.

My favorite photo from Tennessee.

Pulling up

This morning Cade was in his crib playing. I came back and found this...

He had decided it was time to pull himself up. Now we'll have to lower the crib and batten down the hatches.

In the meantime

It is VERY windy here today and I'm having some problems with the internet. So until I can finish typing out our vacation and get the net back here's a quick pic.

Everyone stopped us today, here he has on his 'game face'

Great Smoky Mountains

We were able to leave Huntington around 1 or 130 on Friday. We weren't absolutely positive how Cade was going to react to at least a five hour car ride. On our last trip to Tennessee we spent more than two hours in traffic AFTER we got into the city. So potentially it could have been seven hours in the truck. The truck was a breeze, I didn't have to get into the back with him until close to the end of the ride- he slept almost all the way. We made our way to the cabin, sat by the fire and visited with our friends. We even got into the jacuzzi on the back porch.

The next morning when we woke the snow was falling. YAY the kids first snow! The only problem with that- it meant it was going to be coooooold. We did make it out for breakfast. Stopped at the Christmas place, but it was CRAZY in there. As for the rest of the day we were lazy in making a game plan. Michael, Hillary & London had planned to go to Dollywood, and we REALLY wanted to go, but with it being so cold it just would have been miserable for Cade. The Gores headed to Dollywood and we headed to sight see for a bit. We love the mountains. Our plans were perfect, theirs not so much. Dollywood had closed due to the weather, but they went to visit Hillary's sister who was also in town staying at a hotel that had an indoor water park.

We love to go across the bypass and drive up through th mountains a little bit. We didn't want too head to far out on this day. It was getting late and of course the further up the mountain we went the colder it got.

Sunday morning Hillary had been up with London quite a bit in the night so we were trying to allow her some time to sleep. Michael had her out in the living room with us and I couldn't get enough snuggle time with her. I miss when Cade was that little, but I can't linger in the past or I won't enjoy now. Cade loved London and I think London loved him. She was cracking up when we had him down to play with her. We left the Gores in the cabin to rest and we headed to Cade's Cove. Our family had already been up for a while and it was time for Cade to nap, which made it the perfect opportunity to make the drive. I love the drive. Since there was snow all over the mountains, it made it so much more beautiful. It was gorgeous scenery, just breath taking. We were so lucky that it had snowed, but we were still able to get out without any problems. This trip to Cade's Cove was filled with deer. They were everywhere! The fields were covered in snow, deer tracks, and deer. We even saw plenty of turkeys and horses. I woke up Cade to get a few snapshots. The sun was behind the mountains so we are a little dark, but we had to let him see where we got his name...no matter how young he is.

We were meeting our friends at The Old Mill for lunch and were hoping to spend some time with them. Once we got back into town I got the call that our friends' battery had died and they needed a jump. Angles to the rescue! It wasn't that bad it allowed me to get Cade's diaper changed not in a public restroom (which he hates) and also get my purse that I had forgotten. The Old Mill was wonderful. Surprisingly I ate almost all of my green beans! Funny to talk about beans, but they were better than my mother's (don't tell her I said that.)

More to come....

What have we learned...

When it's Cade's bedtime... It's bedtime.
Don't sit in 103* hot tub when you're already too hot, then expect to come in to the fire and cool down anytime soon.
Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. Traffic isn't always horrible in pigeon forge.

So yes we are in the Smokies- away from home. I convinced myself to leave the computer at home. And I'm ok with it. I'll post a few iPhone pictures here and there, but will save the goods for when we get back.

Love my Cade, love my husband, love my fire, love my friends.
