A Quick Video

We have been trying to utilize our video camera that the Fabulous Gores bought us. Up until now Cade hasn't done too much, at least not predictably. Hopefully we'll have more videos soon, especially since he is full of smiles and almost laughs. Until then...

Back to Work

Over a week ago I made a trip into the office. As we were discussing my return they assumed I was returning after Memorial Day. I assumed the week prior. I took it as a blessing, if they didn't expect me, I would take advantage of it. Last night I was sure to get all my sugars and hugs in and plenty of baby play time. Although my mother has been eagerly anticipating my return to work, she still wasn't able to keep him. Joe had decided he wanted a four day weekend instead of three, so he requested the day. Joe-alone with the baby! When Cade woke for his morning bottle I gave him to Joe and set off to get ready, not just for myself, but preparing for Joe. I washed all the bottles and laid out plenty of extra clothes. (Clothes that don't have to go over the baby's head was Joe's request.) The hour before take off I snuggled with Cade the best I could. Then I handed him over to Joe telling him he needed a diaper change! Before I made it to the interstate my phone was already buzzing, "where are the clothes for the baby?" I explained where I laid it and an extra, but was told he peed on them. This was going to be interesting.
I didn't receive as many phone calls as I had expected, one because he was crying (do I give him gas drops?), just a few more check ins, and lastly-"I'm starving, what's for dinner? I have a new found respect for what you have been doing for the last four weeks." After a run for the "border" I was home and getting plenty of smiles, from both boys!

Cade Four Weeks Old

Big Outing!

We visited our "other" church for the first time on Sunday. Auntie Tracy couldn't stop showing off the baby, she only handed him over to Sarah because she had to go sing in the choir. When she made it back though, he was all hers. This was also the first time John had got to hold him. When Joe handed him to him he said, "What am I suppose to do?" He was a little lost on how to hold a tiny one.

As for our big outing, Sunday night was John's graduation party at the church. I'm not exactly sure Cade knew how to react. Firstly there was a lot of people there, and secondly we had family there that just couldn't stop making over him. After a bit Aunt Betty took him and he went right to sleep. Now we only hope that this is just the first step of John's big journey in life, and wish him well in all his endeavors.

First Real Bath

At SMMC before we left the nursery "teaches" how to care for your child. We had to learn how to bathe our child. Simple enough, until the his cord fell off we needed to do a sponge bath. Sponge bath was way too easy. Even after the cord fell we were bathing him on the kitchen counter. I could clean and see everything. I did finally get brave the other day and got out the baby tub. During his sponge bath he loved to listen to the water run, so I did run the water for a bit to distract him. Last night we tried again, he loved it! I didn't even have to run the water, I think he could have been content in the tub for an hour. (BUT there is only so much to wash on wee little tike)

Two Week Check Up

Today we made our way to the doctor for a two week check up. Everything looks great! Cade is up to 8 pounds 10 ounces! The doctor said we could start giving him a little more formula to make his feedings last longer. One feeding later and I can already tell the difference! I just gave him three ounces instead of two and he is wide awake playing and cooing in his play pen. As I look in on him he has just about turned himself around from wiggling so much! And with that the hiccups are calling! We'll have more to report soon, Aunt Ann & Uncle Jim are coming to visit this weekend!

Daddy's First Day Back to Work

We are sitting here anxiously awaiting Daddy's arrival home from his first day at work. Although we went Target with Grandma, we still missed him a ton!
On another note, I did return to the midwife last Friday and everything checks out fine. We snapped a few pictures in an adorable outfit Grandma got! We had to get them fast before Cade grew out of them!

First Trip to the Dr!

"A-choo!"

Today was the first trip to see the doctor. Cade is one week old and already back up to birth weight. All went well, even when Cade peed on the table when the doctor was checking his ears. Cade wasn't fussy at all and everything is perfect. We return in a little over a week.

Pictures are on the St Mary's Web Nursery!

Wonderful Week

The first week of our new lives. It has been wonderful. On Thursday the doctor said I was more than welcome to stay one more night in the hospital, but I could go home if I wanted. So we packed up and headed on our first adventure. My mother met us at our house with lunch and plenty of encouragement. Soon after came Joe's parents and Mykenzie. After a little convincing she decided she was ready to hold him. She had been so excited about meeting him, but after he came she was a little hesitant. Everything went well, and she even kissed him. The day progressed with more and more visitors. By the end of the evening I would gather around 15- 20 people had been at our house. The three of us were wore out. The night went well. He was barely fussy and I had to wake him up to feed him.So now we are on to our third day home and all is wonderful. We plan to make our first trip to church this morning. Our baby is awesome, and our family and friends are true blessings.

First Trip to Church
Update:
Our first trip to church went wonderfully. Cade didn't make a peep and everyone made such a fuss. Originally we had planned to visit our second church this evening, but I wasn't feeling so well today and decided not to push my luck. Our first week has been exciting and wonderful, and one I plan to never forget.
